We have volunteer opportunities in a childcare centre and children’s hospital in Ecuador’s charming colonial capital, Quito. These provide comprehensive support for children from disadvantaged and difficult backgrounds, and for those suffering from cancer.

Your volunteer childcare role can be varied but gives you the opportunity to brighten the lives of children forced into hardship. Volunteers play an important role entertaining and stimulating the children, whether through fun and games, or through teaching. This is particularly important for children suffering from cancer who are unable to attend school.

The care and attention of gap year and career break volunteers can have a significant impact on the lives of children under care. Some have parents in jail so it is important to give them positive role models. Whether you are interested in teaching in Ecuador or supporting child welfare, a rewarding volunteer experience awaits.

Country
Ecuador takes its name from the equator, which it straddles on the Pacific Coast of South America.Despite being one of the continent’s smallest countries, its biodiversity and rich Spanish colonial heritage make it an intriguing setting for voluntary work.

Region
This volunteer work is available in Ecuador’s capital city, Quito. Quito is the perfect place to soak up Ecuador’s rich Spanish heritage. Spread across a spectacular Andean valley and flanked by volcanic peaks, Ecuador’s high altitude capital is a vibrant mix of old and new.

Local attractions
Quito’ old town is well worth a visit while you volunteer in Ecuador. Its mazy streets are rich with colonial splendour, giving you a real taste of local culture. Adventure seekers can climb the active volcano of Cotopaxi or try mountain biking and white water rafting in the Andes.

Getting there
Career break and gap year volunteers fly into Ecuador’s capital city, Quito. Volunteers are met at the airport and transferred to their project location.

Cost

This volunteer project lasts a minimum of one month. To give you greatest flexibility in your volunteer experience we give you the option of extending your stay on a week-by-week basis.

How to Book

You can book this volunteer programme online by clicking on ‘Book Now’. After filling in our online booking form you will be asked to pay a sign-up fee of £150 via PayPal, which will confirm your place on the project. Alternatively you can book your place on the phone, by calling 08000 32 33 50 and speaking to one of our volunteer coordinators.

The £150 sign-up fee is not an additional cost and is taken from your total project cost. Your place is not confirmed until we receive this payment. Payments can be made online via PayPal, by phone or by bank transfer. If you have any queries regarding the booking process please get in touch.
