Paid teaching in Thailand
Teach English abroad & make a difference

Thailand’s natural beauty and easy-going lifestyle have made it one of the world’s most popular destinations for a gap year or career break, but that has not meant prosperity for all.

Many Thai schools lack qualified English teachers, so students in poorer, rural areas have been unable share the benefits of booming tourism. Because of this native English speaking teachers are highly sought after and even inexperienced teachers can earn money by teaching in Thailand.

Overview

Overview

Our paid teaching placements are based in schools around Singburi in northern Thailand. You will be given preparation for your placement by a cultural induction and introductory TEFL course. These will help familiarise you with Thai customs, culture and language, and give you advice and practice of teaching English abroad.

Following this, you will be placed in a primary or secondary school in rural areas around Singburi, where your main role will be to teach English to students aged between 7 and 18 years old. The students really benefit from their interaction with native English speakers, so the schools are always very welcoming and receptive to the different styles of teaching that those on a career break can offer.

Those teaching in Thailand can also get involved in physical education classes, and may be asked to teach other subjects where required. The schedule for paid teaching placements will be flexible, but you should expect to work between 3 and 5 hours each day. Working hours will be between 8:30am and 3:00pm, Monday to Friday. In most cases you will be paid between 300 and 500 Euros per month.

This programme is perfect for anyone wanting to teach English abroad and help poor communities, but who cannot afford to contribute through volunteer teaching. Paid teachers can gain valuable experience of living and working in an overseas community and learn more about Thailand and its unique culture.
