Tanzania and India are very different countries but both face pressing development issues that volunteer work can help to address.
While the causes and consequences can vary wildly, poverty is a shared concern across both populations. To address this issue, local community development organisations have sought to improve access to education, healthcare, childcare and livelihood support in underprivileged communities.
Unfortunately many of these NGOs and charities do not posses the human resources to effectively achieve their development goals. By volunteering to support a voluntary organisation you can help to build their capacity to help others.
Overview
Overview
By offering your skills and expertise as a volunteer in India or volunteer in Tanzania, you can support business development in under-resourced NGOs. This volunteer work appears on an ad hoc basis and varies depending on location and organisation, but always fulfils a genuine need.
Working in a voluntary organisation is ideal for volunteers with business experience who want to make a difference overseas. Your expertise can be used to help improve NGO strategy, organisation, administration, finance, or any other aspect that requires specialist knowledge.
Most community development organisations cannot afford to obtain specialist business support and so the worthy causes they pursue remain elusive. By tutoring and training NGO staff you can help them to help disadvantaged communities in the long-term, while gaining a unique insight into the charitable sector.

Country
This volunteer work is available in various locations in India and Tanzania. India is a country bursting with diversity. While its vibrant culture and contrasting landscapes can be a shock to the senses, they make it a truly inspiring destination for a career break or gap year abroad and many are drawn back to visit again and again.
Tanzania is one of Africa’s most beautiful countries and is home to the continent’s highest mountain as well as some of its finest national parks and game reserves. With landscapes shifting from tropical beaches to sweeping savannahs, it is a fascinating destination for a career break.
Region
Your volunteering surroundings will differ depending on your location. In India you could be based in Bangalore, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Chennai, Darjeeling, Cochin or Pune. In Tanzania you could be working in Arusha, Moshi or the Pare Mountains.
Local attractions
Inspire Volunteering offers exciting travel programmes in both India and Tanzania, giving you the chance to challenge yourself with mountain treks, visit stunning temples and palaces, and many other exciting activites.
Getting there
Volunteers travelling to Tanzania can fly into Kilimanjaro airport, but flights to Nairobi in Kenya are usually cheaper and more frequent. Those arriving in Kilimanjaro will be met at the airport and transferred to their project location. Volunteers flying into Nairobi can take a bus service south to Arusha where the Inspire Volunteering office is based.
Volunteers travelling to India can fly direct to Delhi and transfer from there to their project location. Indirect and internal flights are available to Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai and Pune but India’s comprehensive rail network provides a good alternative.
