Singapore is preparing to welcome more than 1,000 members of the global volunteering community as it hosts the World Volunteer Conference for the first time next week.
With national volunteerism at an all-time high of 23.3%, Singapore seems the perfect location for over 150 leading local and international volunteering figures to come together and share their experiences, insights and vision.
The conference will run between 24-27th January and mark the 10th anniversary of the United Nations International Year of Volunteers, giving an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in the field of volunteerism.
Conference organisers hope the event will help address the key issues surrounding the UN Millenium Development Goals, which include the promotion of environmental sustainability, the eradication of poverty and improved humanitarian relief.
