See New Born Tigers On A Gap Year In India

3rd August 2011

Going on a volunteering trip to India? You may not want to miss out the opportunity to see several newborn tiger cubs at one of India’s most popular natural sites.

Rajasthan is home to the Ranthambore National Park and any visitors will be treated to the beautiful sight of two baby tigers recently born in tigress T-8. This brings the total tigers at the club up to around a dozen, and with more to appear soon following reports from the Times India that another tigress, T19, may have just given birth. The reports however are not confirmed as tigers are known to be shy to bring their newborn out into the open in the first few months of their lives.

“[T-19's] mammary glands were swollen though her stomach had not. All of us, including my jeep driver, concluded that she must have given birth to cubs recently,” explained tourism minister Bina Kak.

Tigers are not the only animals that can be spotted at Ranthambore National Park, which incidentally is nearby to other attractions such as Jaipur and Agra, including Leopards, Indian foxes, desert cats, long-eared hedgehogs and mongooses, among others.

We have a diverse range of volunteering opportunities all over India including Chennai and Kolkata, with so much to do and see in the country the travelling afterwards is the perfect reward for completing your volunteering project. Many volunteers even choose to go with friends they have made at one of the volunteering sites.
