Everybody who comes back from volunteering abroad with Inspire has a story about how they fell in love with the people, culture and places, but not many can say they married Mr Right while doing it. Caroline Pitcairn, 29, a primary school teacher from Scotland did just that.
Scotland’s Sunday times reported that Caroline, deciding to take a career break and volunteer abroad chose to visit Malawi after a previous trip to Africa left her wanting more, little did she know it would end up being the most life changing trip she would make.
She met her future husband, Ugandan Jonathan Ssentamu, who was also volunteering in the same area, at her first training session, getting ready to work with primary education advisers to create a new curriculum.
Within a few days Jonathan and Caroline quickly became close and would often spend evenings relaxing together. Before they knew it they would be getting married and spending most evenings together for the rest of their lives.

At Inspire volunteer, we can give you life changing experiences, although we can’t promise you will find true love, except with the country. Have a look around our projects and see if anything can inspire you. We are always happy to help you in matching your skills and personality to the perfect project.
