People planning a gap year in India who speak the local language could soon have travel guides from Lonely Planet to refer to while they are there.
Although the publisher already produces guides in English, this new idea is being aimed specifically at Western tourists.
They have recently created a regional office in India itself and are now aiming to produce guides better suited to local travel tastes.
The idea of these publications are to offer a more authentic taste of local culture to people taking a gap year, volunteering or even a career break with a grasp of the language or an Indian-speaking tour guide.
Already, Lonely Planet has found success with a similar scheme, making Chinese-language guides for holidaymakers from China itself.
With a diverse range of geography types, India is described as “bamboozling” by Lonely Planet. We at Inspire volunteering could not agree more with this statement, specialising in volunteering projects in India, we can offer you advice on the serene temple visits, to the fun-filled festivals before Lonely Planet get their guide out!
However, we not only have great knowledge of the culture, but offer great projects volunteering abroad. Browse round our site now and get in touch
