How To Plan A Trip Volunteering Abroad

4th August 2011

Volunteering abroad offers an exciting way to see and experience a culture different to your own and can be a refreshing way to take time off in your career rather than the traditional gap years.

Volunteering is not for everyone however – there are no spa hotels or Michelin star restaurants and of course there is work involved, making it less of a relaxing break. But if that’s what you wanted you wouldn’t be reading this now! Volunteering abroad in countries such as India or Tanzania gives a truly unique experience that can be more affordable and rewarding than your usual resorts. Take a look at these three steps to help you out! Don’t forget if you need any more help you can contact us!

What do you care about

When choosing your project think carefully about what your passionate about, whether it’s animals and the environment or children and teaching. There will always be something to fit your personality, if you can’t think of one then research our site and we are certain something will inspire you. Your objective is to go and to help, so you don’t want to be stuck volunteering where you don’t care or have an interest in the cause.

Figure out your budget

Regardless of the word “volunteer” these trips cost some money, you should always book through a reputable company, at Inspire we support you every step of the way. If you have a budget we can fit you to the right project and destination but still allowing you to work for the cause you want too.

Figure out a plan

A good resource for finding opportunities is the website you are currently on. You can search by destination, project or volunteering category. Once you work out where you want to go the exciting part can begin!
